The second Cross-Border seminar took place from the 8th till the 10th of November 2013 in Lille. The subject “nationalism and populism as a dangerous path for Europe” was promising and the expectations were high. Arriving together with the other participants, we knew this was the moment … borders had to be…

On Friday, November 8th, I found myself sitting in a train heading to Lille, France as a representative of JEF-Liège. After…

20th Birthday of the Maastricht Treaty: towards more European solidarity and stability in times of economic turmoil

ImageIn light of the ECB announcement to start a conditional but unlimited bond-buying program, the state of the union of Barosso in which he announced to work for closer integration, the loss of the extreme Eurosceptic parties in the Netherlands and the ruling of the German constitutional court, one could easily become optimistic in regard to the prevailing European challenges. Alas, the Eurocrisis lingers on and the centripetal economic and nationalistic forces are slowly disintegrating the European Union with little efforts to stall, let alone reverse the process.

Call for Participants: Cross Border Seminar on the Eurocrisis and European solidarity, 21-23 September, Maastricht (NL)

It is with great pride that we present you the call for a project JEF Belgium is co-organising: the Cross Border Seminar!
We have established a network with neighbouring JEF sections of Luxembourg, Netherlands, North Rhine-Westphalia (DE) and Lille (FR). Out of our deep concern about the lack of solidarity among EU member states during the current crisis and the rising unemployment rate, our first joint activity will be a seminar on the Eurocrisis and European solidarity, to be held from 21 till 23 September in Maastricht, Netherlands. Maastricht, as the birthplace of the Euro, is ideally located in the middle of the five cooperating organisers.
