The Erasmus Adventure Part III: Louvain-la-Neuve, jamais je ne t’oublierai…

2008, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium: a town that the majority of people never heard about or that is often mistaken with Leuven, the Flemish one.

I was at the 3rd year of my bachelor in Political Science at the University of Urbino (Italy) when I decided to do the Erasmus. I had been dreaming about it since I had started university and, when the moment arrived, it was not that hard to make a decision where to go. I have always been passionate about the European Union and I was going to write my dissertation on the history of the European integration. I was lucky to have Belgium among the possible destinations, because for me Belgium meant Brussels and the EU institutions. I also wanted to improve my French, so from my small town of Urbino I left to spend one semester at the Université Catholique de Louvain, the francophone one! (more…)

Call for Participants: Cross Border Seminar on the Eurocrisis and European solidarity, 21-23 September, Maastricht (NL)

It is with great pride that we present you the call for a project JEF Belgium is co-organising: the Cross Border Seminar!
We have established a network with neighbouring JEF sections of Luxembourg, Netherlands, North Rhine-Westphalia (DE) and Lille (FR). Out of our deep concern about the lack of solidarity among EU member states during the current crisis and the rising unemployment rate, our first joint activity will be a seminar on the Eurocrisis and European solidarity, to be held from 21 till 23 September in Maastricht, Netherlands. Maastricht, as the birthplace of the Euro, is ideally located in the middle of the five cooperating organisers.
